AN INTIMATE AND TIMELESS BACKYARD ELOPEMENT
Kenora, Ontario / August 2021
When Katie & Jarin first contacted me, she mentioned to me they chose their wedding day based on my availability, and there is no greater honour for a photographer! They wanted a backyard elopement wedding with the bridal details included and we planned the timeline together - I couldn't have been more happy to help!
The day arrived and called for rain but lucky for us, the forecast changed for the afternoon. When I arrived, I began to photograph the details and they were so gorgeous! The colours of the flowers were cheerfully bright with some of the blooms from Sparkling Dahlia's flower garden!
Katie wanted a Father/Daughter first look, and I'm so glad we did. Those moments are so special and are meant to be captured. We then headed to Vernon Trails to meet up with Jarin and do a first look with him as well. Two first looks in one day - so exciting! It was very beautiful in the pine trees and then along the trails. So many locations in the forest, how does one choose?! It was a wonderful time and the pictures turned out amazing!
After the couples portraits, we headed back to their home where the ceremony was to be held in their backyard. There was only a handful of family members there, but it was intimate and perfect! To symbolize they will always have each other's back, they signed the marriage certificate on their backs. I had never seen that before and it was truly unique!
When the ceremony finished, together with their family, we walked to the dock and did the family photos in the shade and then a few more intimate poses on the dock of just the two of them when it clouded over. (Tip for future brides - Summer sun is so bright which is why I always recommend shade or late evening for photos!) We then walked back to the house where I took a picture of them with their beautiful cake. I always wanted to do a cake shot like that as most wedding cakes are a lot bigger in size. They finished off the evening with a dinner while I headed home. All together, it was a stunning day with a wonderful couple. Just look below to see how gorgeous it all was! :)
A beautiful cake to finish off the amazing photos from a gorgeous day spent with a wonderful couple! It was so great getting to know you both more and your families. Thank you so much for having me be a part of your wedding day! Wishing you both all the happiness in the world!
Love,
Michelle
